Several years of development work and practical fishing experience have gone into our lures. During this time, we have focused extensively on the material, shape, colour and production of our soft fishing lures. Our Moby Softbaits are manufactured in Germany. The development and ongoing optimisation of our lures, materials and production processes have been part of the Moby Softbaits story from the beginning.
The various Moby Softbaits have been developed for predator fishing and are available in different shapes, colours and versions. For example, the Moby Shad features an integrated hook channel. This is designed to help position the lure when mounting it on a hook.
Material:
The material used for our Moby Softbaits is manufactured in Germany. The colours and glitter used for our lures are also manufactured in Germany. The material we use is PVC-free and phthalate-free. According to information provided by our material manufacturer, it does not contain the corresponding PVC or phthalate components.
The composition and characteristics of the material used for our lures are selected for their intended use as artificial fishing lures.
Development History
We are three brothers from Hesse, Germany, with a long-standing passion for fishing. Our father introduced us to fishing when we were children, taking us to Lake Edersee and to various rivers and ponds. Our enthusiasm for fishing grew from there.
Over time, we developed a particular interest in predator fishing with artificial lures. As early as 1998, we had the idea of developing our own artificial fishing lure. At the time, we were 13, 15 and 20 years old and did not yet have the technical knowledge or facilities required to turn the idea into reality. In 2005, we returned to the idea. With our own company, CAD software, milling machines and facilities for plastics processing, we began developing an artificial lure manufactured in Germany.
The first soft fishing lure was soon designed and a corresponding mould was produced. One of our first challenges was finding a suitable material for our lures. After numerous trials and various material tests, we worked together with a plastics manufacturer from Bavaria to develop a material base suitable for our requirements in the production of soft fishing lures. Following further development and production work, the first twisters were produced and tested in practical fishing situations.
Through our now long-standing friend Jörg Strehlow, we met an experienced and well-known angler who contributed his practical experience and ideas to the further development of our lures. This led, among other things, to the development of the first “Deutschland-Kauli” and the Moby Shad. The “Deutschland-Kauli” was later renamed “Long Shad”. Over the years, further Moby models followed, including the V-Stint, Grundi, Racker Shad, Monster Shad and Ego Shad.
The development and optimisation of our lures, the materials used and our production processes continues on an ongoing basis. In 2013/2014, the “Moby Softbaits” brand and the term “Moby” were registered for the field of fishing. In 2015, the Moby Softbaits website and our online shop for end consumers went online.
